Memorabilia Masquerade

Memorabilia Masquerade is a party within the enchanted world I’ve brought to life during my time at CalArts. It’s an extravagant, welcoming, dreamworld in which play is encouraged. It’s the combination of different eras, and feelings, creating a unique fusion of energy. I lend homage to the Victorian era, especially with filigree adorned mirrors, and one of my favorite works, Lewis Carrolls’ “Alice in Wonderland”. I nod to the 1950’s-1980’s with my collection of Playboy and Life magazines, as well as fine art books that I have no hesitation dissecting. I love everything with Vaudeville imagery, or ornate Baroque detail, and I’m entranced by 1920’s Art Nouveau. This is a Masqueerade, my own made up holiday to honor and celebrate my queer identity.
